  • Beginner Classes
    Classes are progressive and attendance is mandatory for the Level 1 on the first night.
  • Previous Experience with fixed gear on a banked track. Will bring appropriate track bike or note size of loaner needed.

In this special Saturday afternoon class, we will cover all the things you need to become race certified at the San Diego Velodrome. (SDV) We will be teaching best racing practices and racer/racing IQ, covering all the specific races you will encounter at FNR. We will cover race tactics, best gearing choices, and how to use your strengths to create the desired outcome for each race. This class is available to both beginner and intermediate/advanced riders.

Level 1- Have not taken a 6 week class at SDV and have never raced on a track
Level 2- Have taken a 6 week class at SDV or have raced on a track (SDV, LA, Encino, etc)

4-week series dates February 2024:

Each session will last about 3 hours. Please plan to arrive in time to be ready to ride by 1p.m.

    The San Diego Velodrome Association (SDVA) is a public benefit, membership-based 501(C)3 nonprofit corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of California for the purposes of engaging in, promoting, encouraging, and otherwise supporting bicycle track racing, both as an athletic sport as well as a recreational activity, including such related activities as, but not limited to, bicycle safety programs, bicycle swap meets, and youth bicycling programs. The SDVA is granted a use permit by the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department for the use of the velodrome facility in Balboa Park. The SDVA is responsible for administering, conducting, coordinating, and/or promoting all bicycling recreational and racing activities, including events sanctioned under the provisions of the United Cycling Federation, the United States Olympic Committee, and/or the International Cycling Union (UCI) for the San Diego Velodrome.
